Marion CFB Gives the “Gift of Blue” to 28 FFA Students

The Marion County Farm Bureau (CFB) is awarding 28 more first-year FFA members the “Gift of Blue” as part of their 4th annual FFA Jacket Essay Contest.  The essay contest asked first-year Ag/FFA students a simple question, “Explain the main goal you wish to accomplish from being involved in FFA.”  Twenty-eight (28) students completed the essay this year.  The Marion CFB awarded jackets to all 28 students, which included recipients from all six (6) high school districts in the county.

The contest is an opportunity for Marion County High School agriculture students to have the Farm Bureau purchase their official FFA blue corduroy jacket.  FFA Chapters will order the jackets this winter and be reimbursed by the Marion County Farm Bureau.

In four years of this program, the Marion CFB has awarded 89 jackets to local, first-year FFA students.  At $60 per jacket (and shipping), the Farm Bureau has covered over $5,800 in expenses through their “Gift of Blue” effort.  Congratulations to all this year’s recipients and good luck with your FFA experiences!
