Marion County YLs Shine at Annual Antique Power Days

Marion County YLs Shine at Annual Antique Power Days

The Marion County Young Leaders (YLs) had another exciting year of involvement at the 35th Annual Antique Power Days in Salem, bringing fun and friendly competition for all ages.

To kick off the weekend, the YLs brought in a new Ag Olympics activity for local FFA students around the county.  The evening consisted of Ag-related relays for the students to compete in.  The competition included rolling a tractor tire, stacking bales, climbing gates, loading and transporting firewood, and carrying buckets of water for the best time.  The top three (3) fastest students were awarded tickets to the evening’s tractor pull and the fastest chapter was awarded Marion CFB branded t-shirts.  Twenty-four (24) members participated in the event, making it a successful first year!

Continuing a crowd favorite, the Young Leaders also hosted their Annual Pedal Tractor Pull for the third year in a row.  The event featured pullers ranging in age from 2 years old all the way through high school, drawing a fantastic turnout of forty-six (46) young competitors lining up to show off their pedal power in front of cheering families and friends.

Both events crowned winners, but every participant walked away with free Marion County Farm Bureau swag, ensuring that everyone left with a prize and a smile.

A big thank-you goes out to the SI Antique Power Club for allowing the Young Leaders to use their weekend to host these free events for the community.  Be sure to check out the SI Antique Power Club’s Facebook page for more recaps and information on this wonderful annual weekend.  Additional pictures from the event(s) can also be found on the Marion CFB’s Facebook page.
