The Marion County Farm Bureau (CFB) Foundation will begin accepting scholarship applications from our member families on January 1st. The Foundation will award scholarships ranging in value from a minimum of $500.
Last year the Marion CFB Foundation was able to award fourteen (14) scholarships totaling almost $18,000 with the help of our supporters. To date, the Marion CFB Foundation has awarded over 265 scholarships totaling almost $307,000 to our member families.
Scholarships are open to graduating seniors and college students who have not yet received their undergraduate degree. Marion CFB Foundation President Steven Brummel said: “The generosity of Farm Bureau members who donate to our Foundation in addition to their dues each fall continues to make these scholarships possible. The Foundation would also like to especially thank the Dorothy and Wilhemine Ratermann Trust for their generous donations to our Foundation!”
The Foundation will also be awarding their 8th annual $1,000 scholarship(s) in memory of Berniece Swan. Berniece served as the organization’s Administrative Assistant for over 17 years. After her passing, the family established a Memorial Scholarship in her name which is also open to Marion CFB members and their children.
Scholarship applicants must be from a Marion CFB member family (2 years minimum), be a resident of Illinois, and be enrolled in an agriculture-related field of study. Applicants can receive a maximum of 2 scholarships from the Marion CFB Foundation.
A link to the scholarship application will be sent to guidance counselors and Ag teachers at all the high schools in the county, posted on our Facebook page and website, and will also be available upon request from the Marion County Farm Bureau office. Applications and supporting documentation must be completed online by midnight on March 15th.
