The Marion and Clinton County Farm Bureaus are pleased to announce the hiring of Makayla Karrick as their new Director of Engagement. A native of Patoka, Karrick recently relocated to Salem and brings a strong agricultural background and deep passion for community involvement to her new role.
Agriculture has always been a central part of Karrick’s life. Raised on her family farm, she was actively involved in both 4-H and FFA, where she showed livestock and held various leadership positions. Her commitment to agriculture led her to pursue higher education in the field. She earned her associate degree from Kaskaskia College, double-majoring in Agricultural Business and Plant & Soil Science, before transferring to Southern Illinois University–Carbondale to complete her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Economics with a minor in Crop Sciences and Environmental Management.
Karrick has also been an active member of the Marion County Young Leaders Committee, further strengthening her ties to the agricultural community.
“I’ve been fortunate to work in the ag industry throughout my career,” Karrick said. “I’m excited to bring my skills and passion to the Farm Bureaus in Marion and Clinton Counties.”
As Director of Engagement, Karrick will oversee educational and membership initiatives, coordinate with volunteers and committees—such as Young Leaders, Ag in the Classroom (AITC), and Public Relations/Membership—and support youth programming through partnerships with 4-H, FFA, and other organizations. She will also collaborate with each county’s affiliated non-profits, assisting with grant writing, scholarship programs, and donor engagement for their respective Farm Bureau Foundations.
“I’ve always had a deep passion for agriculture,” Karrick added. “I’m looking forward to diving into this role, connecting with members across both counties, and continuing to promote and support the agricultural industry in our communities.”
